Audio issue says 7.1 truehd on title screen but only has 5.1 signal

There are a few possibilities I can think of:
1. The media is transcoding, and the audio is transcoding to 5.1. Either the server owner has remote bandwidth/bitrate limits set, you have remote bandwidth capped, or something with the media isn't compatible with your playback device, causing it to transcode.
2. The media has multiple audio tracks and Plex isn't automatically selecting the 7.1 track.
3. There are multiple versions of the movie available, and the one Plex chooses doesn't have the 7.1 audio track.
It's harder to troubleshoot since you don't own the server, but one thing you could look at are the playback info. Getting to them will be a bit different depending on the client, but it will be an option somewhere in the playback controls overlay when the media is playing.
Solved thank you it was during playback by clicking the hd icon and selecting play original quality. I really appreciate your help with narrowing it down with me
Happy to help! Annoyingly, each client has its own remote quality setting that defaults something like 4Mbps. You should be able to change the default in the client settings so you don't have to always manually choose original quality.
K I'll look
I've checked the playback options and 7.1 true hd is selected. How would I know if I have remote bandwidth capped? And thanks for the reply
