Nah, UX was ending. I had it pegged to end before summer because the story was written and Game Central Station was the last world. UX does all the financial support of the UXDR app. I foresaw DR only lasting like a year. DR has a more concise story, but also couldn’t outlast UX by that long. Outside of that, nothing else really. The pandemic really dragged UXDR down a peg.

Nielssie0420

Yeah, I’m just kinda sad that DR is ending this soon. I also got in Ux not too long ago and I was really enjoying it, so to see that they’ll only make it a theater / museum is sad to me😔 You’re right though, the game had it coming

eskaver

Another way of looking at it, it’s like a game + DLC + patches. 5 years is pretty great.

Nielssie0420

True, maybe we can now start to look forward to an RE port of some sort

eskaver

Nah, no one should expect a port. At best, a movie, imo. I doubt there’s much to do else with the content because there’s no reason to make a game (UX doesn’t fit the structure and DR was purposefully included with UX to not make a console game.)

i_like_it_eilat

Don't care about DR but the UX story needs to be made into a movie if not a game. These scenes need to be animated and acted.

kennyFF92

Could it be the KH TV series they're talking about?

TheAngriestOwl

I don't know, it feels to me like DR had a lot more story left in it, I thought it would be a long epic quest to find the missing students and we would get to know the others in Xehanort/Eraquses class more. It seems like a lot of work to make all the assets/game mode for DR and then use it for less than a year. My guess is...UX was declining in popularity/generating less money, so they planned DR as a way to renew interest and get more people back in to both games or get some new players. I would then guess that DR has not done half as well as they thought it would, so both games are now unprofitable

eskaver

Oh, I thought DR would just about about a year flat. Something thematic, like 13 Chapters/Episodes. UX was going to wrap up, as such the financial side was going to wrap up. DR even under the best circumstances wasn’t going to outlast UX ending by much because DR is fundamentally different (which I think was intentional). I do think they wanted to go a little longer with DR (perhaps normally until September) but pandemic and other things got in the way.

TheAngriestOwl

yeah maybe you're right. But in that case I thought they would at least update the story much quicker...They were setting up for the standard KH Disney world hopping journey (Usually our protagonists visit at least 7 or 8 Disney worlds if not more before the end of the plot). We have visited 2 and barely had any plot happen at all and soon it will be shutting down

eskaver

We both agree (on this front). I think due to the circumstances the story that probably would have been twice a month or monthly was forced to a crawl. If it weren’t for that, we’d probably be several episodes in and see more or less the end in sight (after a few more worlds).

Nielssie0420

I also think the pandemic had some influence on the development of new story content.

eskaver

Agreed (that’s why I said circumstances to be all inclusive of the pandemic, staffing, finances, etc). Likely the staff will be hard at work to crank out the story content to be ready by end of service.

orreregion

Executive meddling, I imagine.

Did they even finish Dark Road story? Is JP version going to keep going? I just started getting into Dark road after a long khux haitus

Nielssie0420

The Dark Road story is going to continue, but it’ll be rather short. I was hoping we’d get like 13 chapters, but the slow rollout and stuff definitely shattered my hopes a bit. The story is probably going to be finished when May 30th rolls around Also, there are only three chapters right now, so we are at the same point as the japanese
